General Information
Sand Moulding Process
Ductile and Grey iron castings are produced in High pressure flaskless green sand moulding lines. Moulds are produced by squeezing sand at high pressure and moved in a string without displacement by automatic mould conveyors through pouring and cooling zones. Pouring of treated metal is by a semi-automated system. After in-mould cooling, the castings are separated from sand by tumbling in a cooling drum. The transportation of castings and sand are entirely by automated conveyor systems.
Advantage of Vertical Sand Moulding
The moulding system offers the advantage of a high pressure moulding line resulting in castings of excellent quality with close tolerances, better surface finish and uniform structure. The flaskless moulds are produced in six simple operations ensuring consistent moulds which in turn give consistency in casting dimensions. The system, with flexible in-mould cooling time, is ideally suited for heavy ductile iron castings. Better use of the pattern plate area produces high yields of castings compared to traditional methods.
